GRAYSLAKE -- The cozy surroundings of The Vine will get a sprinkle of holiday cheer on Dec.13.
Several lucky children will have the opportunity to have lunch with one of the most popular figures in the world.
The North Pole's own Santa Claus will sit down and share a meal with area children from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., said restaurant manager Michael Pruitt. The children and their parents can also snap a few photos with Saint Nick while they're there.
Hosting an event that involves the larger community has become old hat for the business in its third year on Center Street.
In addition to community projects, The Vine entertains patrons with live shows several times each week.
The restaurant hosted a similar pre-holiday event last year in addition to the others throughout the year.
The restaurant will also host a New Year's Eve dinner that will start at 6 p.m. Dec. 31 to ring in 2010.
The Vine has been part of car shows and other fund-rasing events for local charitable causes, Pruitt said.
"Reaching out to the community is very important to us," he said. "It brings us closer to the community, and it also helps us attract more business to our restaurant.
"Our customers are always excited when they come here and have a good time," Pruitt said.
